The world of dance would not be what it is without countless contributions from a world of diverse humans. Unfortunately, there is a not so subtle, yet swept-under-the-rug racism that allows an unfair experience for many dancers. I am a white woman, and an academic, so my experience with racism in the dance world has been more of a witness, and this means I am just as responsible if I don’t speak up against it when I see it.
Think of a time when you witnessed or experienced racism in dance. Did you speak up, and what happened after?
If you need a place to keep your dance thoughts, I’ve made my logs and journal pages available for you on my Resources Page.
