DANCE JOURNAL PROMPT | What’s in a Word?

Hello Dancers! Welcome back to our weekly reflection post! Personal reflection and journaling are essential to our personal growth as dancers, and I hope the prompts have been helpful. This week we will be exploring how we define ourselves in language with dance.  A few weeks ago, we looked at our identities as dancers, and how there is much more about each dancer than simply being good at moving. Words have the power to inspire or slay, so being mindful of how we name our personal style can be a boon for motivation.

Journal Prompt

If you had to choose one word to describe your ideal dancing, what would it be?

Activity: Choose some of your favorite music and improvise some movement with this word in mind. You could even write out many words on slips of paper and see how your dancing changes with each new word in mind.

Thank you for being here, and I’ll see you next Tuesday for another dance journal prompt!
